New graveyard set
« on: October 12, 2011, 08:08:16 PM »
Good lord, this looks a bit good: http://www.tabletop-world.com/Graveyard.php

Unfortunately, like most of their stuff the cost is a bit prohibitive, but I have to say it's a lovely kit.

Amazing!!! Looks like a set from a classic Hammer movie. Wonderful aesthetic. I love all the little details, and the gargoyles and the tree in particular.

That is very nice and not priced too badly for what you get. I for one would want a lot more to scratch one and I doubt it would be anywhere near as good

It is very cool looking.
I wonder if I could build something like it?

No doubt.

Overall, a terrific looking piece with a ton of character, but you have to make the obvious comparison with the OG version:

http://oldglory25s.com/view_product.php?product=GH 04

Allowing for the 40% OG Army discount (which almost anyone who buys from OG regularly will have access to - the graveyard set alone would recoup 80% of the card's cost, and the free bonus robot minis this year are excellent, nearly worth the whole cost by themselves), the two sets are comparably priced.  The new one is better detailed, comes with a custom base, and has a lot more in the way of flavorful extra touches.  The OG set isn't as fancy, but has five times as many crypts and metal fences for better durability.  Tough to say which is the better buy.

Of course, if you had $200 or so to burn on the project, you could get both sets.  :)   Neither one looks to me like they'd be compatible style-wise with the recent GW plastic offering, the Garden of Morr box, but I might be wrong, haven't seen that one out of the box.
