Great to see all the figures together.
Fine job of painting.
Can you play with that many Gladiators with your rules?

Thanks Marine, yes the Gladiator rules support up to 60 gladiators per side (mass battles). Though the mass battles simplify a few rules to streamline the experience a bit too much for my taste. So I think that I will use something like 6-8 Gladiators per side in 2 teams at the most to keep all the rules and game mechanics used for Gladiator vs Gladiator combat  :)

The Hoplomachus is a light gladiator armed with a spear, better off supporting friendly models then perhaps being engaged directly in close combat himself die to the relative lack of protection and tiny shield.

One of the cooler Gladiators when it comes to appearance. I have two Thracian miniatures, they both look nice but I decided to paint this up first since he has a dynamic pose while the other have a static stance.

More pictures on my blog as usual:

A barbarian miniature that will be used as a Celtic Riglach warrior for the arena. The profile for this Gladiator can be found in the PDF "Barbarians in the arena" which can be downloaded for free from Warhammer Historical.

I would gladly add a few miniatures to represent the deceitful female characters from Spartacus if I could find any to represent them well enough. I have the male civilian blister from Crusader, where I think two of the models could be used to represent Batiatus and Solonius as well as some high ranking town official.

Two civilian miniatures from Crusader Miniatures I figured I would use as Lannista's.

This is the guy in charge of business and the one every one sucks up to. A lovely sculpt from Crusader miniatures, the one I liked the most out of the civilian blister.

I agree, the arena owner is great.
I like the figure the best of the bunch, set off with a fine paint job.

Anatoli - love that figure as well. His clenched hands do make him look like a money hungry schemer.

With his purple robes he seems to have designs on the throne?

I'm in love with these civilians figures. Missed them before.

Very interesting project, Anatoli, I hope you will keep it going as it's a great show and inspiration.

Have you played the rules already? Any comments on them?

What about the terrain, any plans for a sort of arena?

P.S: funny idea to use the Reaper Ghast. I've got the mini as well but I wouldn't dream of using it for Gladiator fights :)
