Eastern Front Game
« on: November 05, 2011, 02:17:05 PM »
Inspired by Pier's earlier post here are some pics of the Rapid Fire game I played with Jon in the week. Similiar to Pier's our game was based on a scenario from the 3rd RF supplement, Narwa 1944. In fact it is Pier's reports that has got me fired up for WWII games again.

Jons tank battalion cross the rail track

Little Kate gets ready to give support

The Soviet tanks spread out and advance on the German positions

The Germans in the ruined farm await the onslaught

The German Tigers claim their first kill

The Soviets knock out the German Stug III

Fighting rages around the ruined farm

The Soviet objective was to get a tank and a company of eight infantry to block the road by turn ten. By turn nine it was obvious that this could not be achieved giving a German win, nothing amiss with Jon's tactical plan he just did not get the rub of the dice for the majority of the game, but as you can see it was a hard fought battle.

Its a great scenario, I have played it three time now once in its intended form and now twice with slight alteration of the tanks and support involved.

Thanks Phil for your photos and report. The tanks certainly got in close to one another. I love the terrain too.

Cheers,

Helen
