Barrow Wights
« on: June 27, 2012, 01:35:00 PM »
These two models of barrow wights were painted some time ago. I am not quite happy with them. I originally intended to paint them in a way to look like they are changing from corpopal to etheral. Meaining I wanted to paint the upper left part like they are solid and then gradually start leaving out the colors and paint everything, armour etc, in this whispy bluish-grey color. I failed. Not quite sure why but I didn't manage to have the metal colors fade out.

I'm thinking about getting a few more and paint the whole miniature in grey-blue. Not sure if that actually would look better.

Any suggestions or tips are appreciated.

I think they look great as they are  8)

The effect as you mention it doesn't seem to work but it doesn't detract from the great paint work.

What James said.

I like them, particularly the glowing effect on the second.

I guess that's from fiddeling with the photos afterwards...  :D

Well, I think they look pretty decent even if not really the way I aimed at. I guess they can be spooky enough this way. Thanks for the feedback.

I think that the effect you achieved is quite striking; they have an eerie, chilling aura about them. Quite often I've found that some of the nicest pieces I've produced bear little resemblance to what I was trying for...with moi it's the dumb luck factor. VERY WELL (if unexpectedly) DONE!

Hm, I guess that's because I only posted battlereports so far. And I usually have long breaks in my painting process - up to 9 months at times. So enjoy while it lasts...  ;)
