Mexican Adventure Uniform guides
« on: November 07, 2011, 10:55:00 PM »
Anyone know of a good source? I've been searching for a colour plate of the uniforms for the Egyptian Battalian but I'm coming up blank. Plus I'd just like some uniform guides. The Osprey book is out of print and not cheap to pick up and the uniformology style CD ranges don't seem to cover it.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Military Uniforms of North America, Vol 3: Long Endure, The Civil War period 1852-67 by The Company of Military Historians.  This has a section and a plate on the Egyptian Battalion by Joseph Hefter and John R Elting. (P 128)

Thanks guys, especially Arthur. I can get the Major figure painted now.

Now, does anyone know of a book that's in print?

The whole war really. I like colour plates of uniforms :)

The egyptian Battalion was 'urgent' so that the major from gringo40's could be painted but I can easily see my Western/Deadlands stuff spilling south.

It has to be the Mike Owen french and Mexicans to bolster the ranks then wish I d kept mine as they were lovely figures

The Foundry ones? Some nice figures but most are too small these days. Plus most of the unit types only actually have one figure sculpted and I really dislike that.

Not colour plates for uniform guides though are they...  ;)

No the bandits/Irregulars from this range, are Mike Owen and of the same size if not a little larger than his own range.

Cant see the French but they were titled heroes of camerone, not the original perrys ones, each was a character figure in campaign gear, some of the hats were a little off but nice minis- WEIRD THEY SEEM TO HAVE GONE FROM THEIR SITE!!!!

Thanks Joroas, it's been added to my 'books to look out for list'. You can buy a new copy for £215.... Cheapest I've found it is £33 plus the shipping from the US for a creased copy.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten those, I was thinking of the Maximillian Adventure range.
