They look really good, Helen. And an interesting and unusual choice of subject. Look forward to seeing the finished unit  :)

Thanks guys very much for your comments. Richard, there will be 10 Japanese Naval Paratroopers for gaming purposes with the same head. I'll try and change some of the expressions!  :)

Cheers,

Helen

Great painting, Helen.
Always look forward to seeing your painted Japanese.
What are the materials you use for the groundcover on your bases?
Love the look.

Thank you Marine0846. I use Silflor tufts, weeds and Galeforce Nine Hobby Scenics Static Grass Green.

I just saw this link below on another site an I'll be purchasing the Buffalo Grass.

The Buffalo Grass is ideal for the Solomon Islands and PNG.

I really like the basing, nicely done. They minis look great. As regards to dropping this guys in Australia, I will have to object to that action....oh hang on....you said Northern Australia....that's ok then...you are welcome to invade Queensland.  :D

Thanks G2!

Did you know a Japanese floatplane actually flew around Melbourne! Piloted by a Petty officer if memory serves me correctly. Came from a Submarine.

This fellow I converted from a Brigade Games German Submariner:

Initially the Naval Paras had Bergman smgs for their drop in Dutch East Indies.

Fifth one ready for photography after I finish his base.

Thanks for looking.

Great looking stuff Helen, however, the photos/drawings I've seen of Japanese paratroopers show them to have legwear similar to German or US soldiers with lace up midcalf boots. Definitely not the puttees as in the Brigade Games figs. Check out the Osprey mags on the subject for better pictures. The Japanese paratroopers almost look like Fallschirmjager.

Thanks Koz, yep I do realise that they wore boots, but not my guys, they wear puttees and low boots. I hope you are not a button counter!

Nah, Helen, you should know me better by now. The figs look great. It's just that my OCD would get in the way...

My Grandad told me of a scandal involving some Ghurkas cutting the throats of American sentries because they miss-identified them from their boots, apparently it was hushed up.

I always thought he was winding me up, but maybe it was true  :o

Fishing line went into water ...

Actually it's all possible that they may have worn them. There is a lot we still don't know about the Japanese in WW2.

Cheers,

Helen
