After reading the comments about the glue, should I be worried about paint adhesion problems? I'm not going to be happy if I can't paint these guys.

Plastic primer first?

To be honest, I've been eying this game ever since I saw pictures of their awesome demo table. I fear it is one of those 'I must own this' kind of things...

And it will be a great way to lure my 9 year old nephew to the dark side :D I mean; kids these days are all over those chibbi figures, aren't they? And I can't shake visions of old Zelda games when looking at the figures. Win-win I'd say... ;)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

There's no connection.  Liquid poly cement works by melting the plastic, not by sticking to it.  If you paint in acrylics, there are rarely any problems with adhesion on even soft flexible plastics.  If this is ABS, it's slightly harder than most polystyrene and there should be no problem at all, but if problems do arise, just prep by painting over with thinned PVA (add a tiny drop of detergent to ake sure it fits tight to all the detail).
Back from the dead, almost.

Thanks for the tips, Steve F!

It does look interesting and I wonder if some of those Japanese gashapon figures might fit in size and style wise.

... they do... I've been buying gashapon for the last month... perfect size and style match...

And if anybody has never come across gashapon before, search ebay using a country search for Hong Kong

Everything in this game looks great!

Thanks for the CMON snippet, Heldrak, showing that reallyhelps.

Now, I must resist the urge to keep looking back at this thread, but it is difficult.
You are a very bad man, Colonel, and must refrain from this behaviour!

I have a set of the plus-size metal Adventurers from GenCon, but I'm interested to see how the smaller plastic ones from the boxed set look in real life. SDE is #1 on my Xmas list this year!  ;D

You'd have encountered the same problem with Mongoose' Starship Troopers minis.  Polystyrene cement doesn't work with every type of polystyrene, particularly not with some stuff called ABS, which some plastic model companies use because it takes sharper detail.  The usual solution is to use superglue instead.

Not around here.  Go out and buy some ABS solvent glue, most (all?) of which also work just fine on standard polystyrene, thereby doing double duty regardless of what type of plastic you're working with.  Plastruct Bondene is my brand of choice - not Weldene, which is styrene-only.  Any solvent glue should say right on the label what it works on - you're after "Styrene & ABS" glue.  Cost is the same, and it works the same - styrene-only glues are simply a waste of money, not as versatile.

That assumes it is ABS plastic, of course.  If it isn't, you may have to resort to roughing the contact areas a bit and using cyanoacrylate superglue or an epoxy.  Never run into a model plastic that Bondene won't work on, but there are some out there that resist its solvents - some packaging materials, certain plastic trays and dishes, etc.
