The suprising thing is how substantial it is, it is heavy like concrete. I am very pleased and will use it for my Sudan project.

I just saw these yesterday at the local hobby store.  Very cool!  I am thinking of buying myself one as a Christmas present.  Like you, I am not really interested in using it for a WWII game, but I have just finished an Ottoman Turkish army and will probably use it in a war that will involve the Sultan, the Khedive, the Mahdi, the FFL and the British.  Not terribly pricey considering what you get, and it looks like great fun.

No, these are 15mm.  try PMC games on EBay, he does a nice set of 28mm walls, towers and gates ready painted.

It puts me in mind of a chapter from George MacDonald-Frasier's book "The General Danced at Dawn," where he and his platoon had to garrison a fort like this one for a few weeks. There was all kinds of shenanigans involving the local Arab denizens and a consignment of stolen Italian Lira notes. Scope for Pulp/Between the Wars games there too.
