Has anyone ever used a chainsaw in real life?!  It would be about the worst weapon to use against anything.  I just cut down about 12 pines of various size from our drought down here in Texas and you'd be lucky to get through one zed before the damn chain came loose or jammed or the other 50 zeds aren't finished slurping out the last of your brains while they send for "More Cops".  Oh and to start one up fast and on the go is about next to impossible.

Oh well, hope you guys get the cash you need and get to bustin' some zed head,
Brian

Nevertheless every year people manage to saw through parts of their own, or other peoples bodies with chainsaws. I think they only fail when they are being used for their intended purpose.

A chainsaw is as an unlikely a weapon as a zombie is as unlikely an opponent, yet it's a tradition to use them together. Not my first choice as a weapon but hey!

We have a big Stihl.  That sucker is way too heavy to use as a weapon (or I am way too weak...)   Between adding bar oil and adjusting chain tension it would be a nightnare even if it was light.

Those hotsaws are kind of amazing.

Yeah chainsaws are really only good for their intended task although they are also used very successfully in meat rendering plants. But thanks to Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre they are a horror movie trope and I love the contrast between cute cheerleader girl and brutal device of spinning death.

In Zombie Plague we have a kick-back rule as well. If you roll an OOPS! ( a 1 on a die roll) you not only lose your remaining action points but must roll the die again. If you roll another OOPS! you are zombified. In the multiple games of ZP that I've played and run I've seen this happen a lot. It's one of the weird statistical things that seem to turn up when you're looking for it.

Chelsea however never becomes a zombie if she fumbles with a chainsaw. She has a preternatural ability to handle one.

My favorite ridiculous anti-zombie weapon is still the man portable lawn mower from Peter Jackson's Braindead (aka Dead Alive). It's goofy, effective and very messy.

I was partial to the kill with the bush clippers then garnished with a garden gnome.

3rd best zed fick ever!
Brian

PS to Roebeast,
So are these virus ragers, Romero grunters or true Dan O'Bannon specials?

Mine are pretty much Romero all the way. The only difference is that the vocal chords have dried out so they only gasp and hiss unless the air is particularly moist. And then they moan to beat the band.

Here's a short story of mine that takes place in the same world at the same time as Zombie Plague. It gives a better idea of my take on zombies.

This thing is so bloody close! Please help me out with my KickStarter campaign or send this link to somebody who might dig it. I've only got until Friday to raise less than $600 to make the project happen.
