« on: November 29, 2011, 12:13:35 AM »
Hello....

I've recently dived into the world of DUST with the Dust Tactics miniatures game. Anyone else here into DT?

I am - haven't had time to play much though. And the only mini I've painted yet is one of the Axis zombies to get a feel for the basecoating on the models.

A buddy has both the starter sets but we haven't played yet. Well, at least I haven't, can't vouch for the rest of the club does behind my back... Anyway we are primarily waiting for Dust Warfare.

I am salivating for DUST Warfare! Here's a review I did of it......http://tincangeneral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=478

I'm very excited to see what the final book will be like, and think the game will take on a life of its own far above the boardgame; more of a true fleshed-out wargame than a light wargame.

In My country, many peole is playing the game, they have said that it is cool, but I never see the miniatures or a painting job.

I must confess to having played the board game only a few times before just using the figures and models for tabletop gaming using the NUTS! War Without End weird war rules.
Play the game, not the players!

I have the revised Starter and some other figures and enjoy playing it.

I am hoping DUST Warfare will be pretty good  :)

:D I have the first starter set and have played several games with it, the rules are easy to understand but not kludgy like 40k i am looking forward to getting more units and the warfare book. i have finally chosen a camo patern for my troops(axis) and i don't know about the zombies or the apes but i love the laser truppen. they also play well with any ruleset you want to use. the figures are excellantly made, my only complaint is haveing to hot water treat them to get the bends out. beyond that i would recomend the game to others.

FFG said fouth quarter 2011, but we're in december now with no news definitive. My understanding is that FFG rarely announces future release dates as it's bitten them in the tush badly in the past.

Personally, I am in hopes of a January or February release date, but that's wishful thinking.

I think the Warefare rules will be pretty good. Seems to rely on a heavy command structure from what I've heard....which makes sense considering the huge presence of distinctive leaders.heroes in the base game. I have a feeling it's going to be one of those things where the ruleset will be a jumping off point for a more robust home-rules version.

I have seen stuff about DT but can't find what scale it is.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

I haven't done side-by-side comparisons but it looks to be around 30mm, or 1/54 if you prefer real scale measurements. Slightly larger than traditional/"real" 28mm.
