My Necron Army, to keep or not that is the question
« on: December 05, 2011, 04:57:14 AM »
Well I finally based up my Necron Army.   (I have another Monolith but its only part built and at the moment think having two could be considered as being cheesy, ?)

Couple of closer shots.

I was trying to capture what the Metallic black looks like but its really hard to photograph it as it comes out more silver looking in the pictures.

Pretty sure these will following in the footsteps of the Grey Knights and be posted up for sale at some point but not 100% sure yet.   One of my mates plays 40K and I think I am the only person he knows who will play it with him.  He doesn't get to clubs to play.  So I may feel bad if I sell up.  I just don't feel any 40K love.

Anyway they are painted in Metallic black with gold detailing,  Eyes lenses jewelled in green to tie in with the green from the weapons.  The stock part of the guns is black highlighted through to a dark green, as is the two sides of the monolith, its very subtle.
went with reddish desert bases as I like the contrast of green and red.
Whist basing the Scarabs I managed to snap a base in half, so rather then 10 bases there is now only 9.  the surplus Scarabs I used to add to the base of the Lord and the C'tan.

Based as per my Grey Knights were,  That is Pins in the feet inserted into holes in the bases but not glued to the bases so they are easily removable, yet wont fall out during gaming. (you need to put a little effort in)

all C and C welcome :D

Looking good!
Maybe you can show some close-ups?

IMO you should keep at least 1 40K army.
I am on a long time 40K on/off diet (mostly off the last years) myself, but I still like their backgrond (especially 30K Heresy Novels) and have always hopes for the next edition of rules (which are consequently not fulfilled).
I still have my Eldar, Sisters of Battle and some others.

cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

There are other (non-40K) games that you could use them for.

KEEP IT!

I sold a few Eldar a while ago and I regret the move now.  :-[

They look great, you should hang on to them.

... and have always hopes for the next edition of rules (which are consequently not fulfilled).

I'm also holding on to my 40K stuff, still hoping for that new and good edition of the rules to appear.

By which time none of your stuff will fit in with the new codex...........  lol

No, never sell a nice painted army, there are other, free, rule sets around which these will work for....

Army lists don't worry me, if it was okay yesterday, it's okay tomorrow.

Have to agree - KEEP THEM.
After a few years away from GW games I've started adding to my Orks and Guard again playing small games with 2nd and then 3rd Ed rules but with forces based on my old Rogue Trader "make it up as you go along" unit compositions. I may buy the codex for each but I'll be ignoring points values and any idea of official army lists.
Plus as others have said you can always use them for other rules anyway.

I agree with the rest- DONT SELL!

Always keep at least one 40k army.
I have kept my Imperial Guard, but sold off the rest.
Although I have only played one game of 40k in the last four years, it is an easy game to come back to for a single game, and it was a 4 player take and hold game played for a laugh.
(And it was a good laugh!)

I kept my IG for several reasons-
1. I always wanted a Guard army from the very first release, but as a kid could never afford one.
2. I will NEVER paint that many figures for an army again!
3. There are a lot of conversions in there.
4. They can be used in other games, a human sci-fi army is pretty generic.
5. Lots of people have at least one 40k army, so if you get stuck for a game to play, 40k is always an option.
6. You may, just may, want to play 40k in future.

Keep one, thats what I say, I know a few people who havent and wish they had.

Thanks for the replies folks,

In will try to get some close up pictures done and put them on here.  I think I have come to the decision that this army would be better off belonging to someone else so will be moved to the For sale section as soon as I get the close up pictures done.

I understand all the statements regarding keeping it for pick up games and the like but I think I can just as easily use a non GW futuristic army in 40K (basically a reverse of using this army for non 40K)  should I ever feel the urge to play a game of 40K in the future.

To be honest in probably 20+ years of gaming I have played 40K maybe 6 times.   It was brought on a whim, and because a friend wanted me to play it, I could just as easily use a Quar army as Imperial Guard if needed.

So yeah I think this army need to be posted up for offers and failing a sale here it needs to head of to ebay.
