Please Share Pics of your 15mm Pirate Ships and Boats
« on: December 10, 2011, 10:23:26 PM »
Here are a couple of mine, to kick this off, e.g. a large pirate vessel (firing a salvo at close quarters), and a large pirate brig:

As you can see, the vessel matches up very nicely with the Peter Pig 15mm scale pirate range:

Finally, here's a view of her full hull:

I need to add a few flags, consider repainting the sails, and possibly add a little rigging, but she still makes a decent gaming vessel, with plenty of room to fight boarding actions on deck, right out of the box.

So, please share some of your 15mm (1/100th scale) pirate ship and boat pics here as well, since I'd love to see them, and no doubt others would too.

I've seen a lot of pics of the Sailpower vessels, and a few custom-made wooden ones from conventions back east, but would like to see more.

Nice ships! Where did you get them from?

They were sold in local stores here in the USA, very briefly.

They sold out very quickly.

Here's a pic of the Chinese Junk too, again with Peter Pig 15mm pirate figures:

I really like this scale, since the vessels are small enough to permit a bit of maneuvering on the gametable, and yet large enough that you can put a crew and guns on deck too, if desired, either for aesthetic purposes, or to fight boarding actions with them.

Do you have the name of the ships?  Who makes them?
These would be perfect for my 20mm pirates.
Thanks

Yes, I think they would work for 20mm scale too.

I have some extras for sale, listed in the Bazar of Obscurities folder, along with contact info, if you are interested in them.

They are priced less than most (all) resin kits in 15mm scale, and/or competitively with the cost of some larger 25mm/28mm scale ship's boats.

Ah, I see everyone's too shy to post, so here are some manufacturers of various 15mm (1/100th scale Pirate and/or Sailing Vessels):

Old Glory (and Blue Moon 15mm vessels, crews, and cannons)

http://www.oldglory25s.com/index.php?cat_id=64&catname='Buccaneer%20-%20Napoleonic%20Wars%20'

Peter Pig (for ship's boats, cannons, and crews - they used to recommend/carry 15mm vessels from SDD [now Stronghold], but now only sell smaller 1/450th scale vessels)

http://www.peterpig.co.uk/range10.htm

Sailpower (they produce a set of naval rules for 15mm scale vessels, as well as the ships and boats too - lots of great photos of assembled and painted vessels on their website)

http://blog.sailpowergame.com/?page_id=766

Stronghold (not sure if they are back in operation, but they were the last manufacturer to produce the old SDD 15mm range of vessels, a schooner, a brig, and a frigate, as well as native vessels, a ship's boat, etc. - rumor has it they are trading at some UK shows, but I don't know if the resin vessels, and other items are available from them.  They are also a source for the resin, 25mm Village Green Pirate Vessels, but again, I don't know the availability status of those.  Best to inquire with Stronghold directly, or someone with current intel can reply here).  See page 15 of the PDF below:

Here's the link to the main Stronghold page:

Thoroughbred (really for the War of 1812, but who's counting - boats, cannons, and crews)

Sadly, the superb Opus/Tiger Terrain vessels are not currently available.  Hopefully, they will be again at some point in the future.

Feel free to add in any 15mm scale vessel manufacturers I may have missed.

Of course, I'd love to see some of your nice scratch-built, or converted vessels too.  I suspect there are a lot more 15mm scale Pirate gaming fans than the info about them on this site would indicate.

Greg recently posted a link to a lot of nice wooden display ships that he will be using for his upcoming giant pirate game, early next year.
