I recommend to view a good Russian documentary about the Second World War on the Eastern Front. Film in English. The film has 18 series, beginning with an attack by Germany on the USSR and ending with the defeat of the Japanese Kwantung Army in 1945.
For viewing go to Youtube.

New Russian feature film "Nevsky Pyatachok".
Nevsky Pyatachok - is the name of the Neva Bridgehead 50 km east south-east of Leningrad and 15 km south of Shlisselburg. It was the site of one of the most critical and costly campaigns during the Siege of Leningrad from September 1941 until May 1943 to reopen land communications with the city during the German siege. The Russian word pyatachok means a five-kopeck coin, or (by way of a metaphor) a very small area.

Trailer of the film "321th Siberian (Division)"

Fights in Stalingrad and its outskirts. The 321th division was formed in Siberia, in the Republic Buryatia.
Interesting are the cadres with the cavalry attack of the Buryat horsemen...

Based on the account by reporter Vasiliy Koroteev that appeared in the Red Army’s newspaper, Krasnaya Zvezda, shortly after the battle, this is the story of Panifilov’s Twenty-Eight, a group of twenty-eight soldiers of the Red Army’s 316th Rifle Division, under the command of General Ivan Panfilov, that stopped the advance on Moscow of a column of fifty-four Nazi tanks of the 11th Panzer Division for several days. They fight tirelessly and defiantly, with uncommon bravery and unwavering dedication, to protect Moscow and their Motherland.

Brest Fortress

Brest Fortress is a Russian-Belarusian war film recounting the June 1941 defense of Brest Fortress against invading Wehrmacht forces in the opening stages of Operation Barbarossa, Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II. Events are narrated from the perspective of 15-year-old Sasha Akimov, centering on three resistance zones holding out against the protracted German siege. The defending forces are led by regiment commander Major Pyotr Gavrilov (44th Rifle Regiment of the Red Army), with Regimental Commissar Yefim Fomin (84th Rifle Regiment of the Red Army), and the head of the 9th Frontier Outpost, Lieutenant Andrey Mitrofanovich Kizhevatov.
The film makers claim that the plot is as close as possible to historical fact, and that the Brest Fortress Museum supervised the plot thoroughly.

Igor Rasteryaev - "The Road of Life"
I guess that many will not understand what this song is about. It is about those drivers who brought bread to besieged Leningrad on the ice of Lake Ladoga, under shelling and air raids. On the return flight, children and women were taken out of the starving city. This driver made several hundred flights.
