Dice Trap? (Finished)
« on: December 11, 2011, 11:12:32 AM »
This is just a quick build for me. We were playing Legends of the High Seas yesterday and recently we've been playing on small boards. Every time we'd roll this dice we'd knock over either models/terrain or the dice would sit at a 50/50 angle between two numbers! :? We've used box lids in the past but I thought it might be nice to have a pirate themed one for our games.

I don't know if 'dice trap' is the right name. ??? ???

It's supposed to be a skull mountain and it's got a CD box lid embedded in the back to take the dice. I've built something similar before when I made a skull island for my pirate crew so I knew this would be a Farely quick way to do it. It's made out of ripped up foam packing and covered in plaster, which it seems to soak up quite well!

Has anybody else made anything similar? I'd love to see what ideas people came up with.......

Looking excellent!

I've never made such a thing before, but I know fine well that it's been done in the form of a dice tower before. I'm certain that they're pretty popular over at boring toms mordheim forum.

Cheers
Andy

What a great idea!

Must do something like this for Mordheim.
I keep telling myself this every time Gav throws the dice on the floor!

It's not that big Colin! Also I thought it would count as a bit of impassable terrain in the corner. I was thinking of a treasure chest as well but that deffinatly would have been out place on the board!

Simple AND effective, you can't beat it.  :D

There was a face photographed on the surface of mars by one of the many probes sent there years ago. Obviously it was only an illusion created by Martian geography. What about using that (face up) and make the trap the open mouth?

I added some palm trees to try and make it blend with the rest of our pirate board....

...and one for scale...

If it's interesting for someone, I propose to have a look at the
- Roll Arena
- The Tower of Chaos
- NECROBLOCK: CHRONOMETER
