SCW Bash!
« on: December 17, 2011, 01:56:44 PM »
I recently played a small SCW game with my Empress collection, we used Rapid Fire/Rompan el Fuego rules and had a fun game.
A Nationalist unit was occupying a small village, the Republicans had to get them out!

The battlefield

After a hard fight the Republicans took the village but took lots of casualties, including the armoured truck!

Nice looking game and toys, we have been using RF/RelF on occaision to.

Did you find them a good reflection of SCW warfare? I am still undecided on them, but will reserve judgement until I have bigger forces painted up.

I do like RF/R el F for the SCW, they have a nice 'feel' for the period. We use the 1st edition RF, but test morale per section rather than the whole battalion at 50% casualties, I believe the RF 2nd edition use this mechanism. This works better imo.

I intend to try T&T soon, once I can sort the unit and order cards out, so I can see how the two compare against each other. In the meantime my painting continues, currently an Assalto unit with a Falange unit and Pz 1 to follow!

Interesting, we test at company level with RF/RelF.

We have also so used T&T which also gives a good game and feel, I have not made anymore cards yet for the additional units I have painted so games using T&T have stalled.

I may give them a run out with Brigadier 38 the 1938VBCW set which has all the neccessary ingredients for the SCW.
