Another chinese army
« on: 22 December 2011, 03:05:39 AM »
My 1920 chinese army project finished (a few more on the workbench, but too lazy to finish them, this small force is far from enough to beginn with). Most Copplestone, Pulp Figures, a few Brigade Games, and a Black Cat Base car.

Nice force very nicely presented too.  I especially like the colour shades, they look spot on.

Nice! Where are the horses from? Przewalski ponies?

Nice.  You could print that picture out as an identification poster.

Great looking troops.
Really like the General, car and driver.
Nice use of colors on the uniforms.
Love them.

Thank you for your kind words, but don't hesitate to criticize: I would like to make some improvements in painting, but I don't know much what to do next. @ area23: yes, I tried to paint a Przewalski pony, using a horse from Immortal miniatures. The other non-Copplestone horse is a Foundry, native american one. The Copplestones horses are a bit tall for Mongolian ponies, according to photographies, and I like variety.

Very, very nice.

As the first round of painting for my Russian Civil War Red & White forces moves toward completion I must resist wandering off into Warlord China... after all, it's just next door, and I could still use a lot of my Russians... must resist...

The pony was painted according to a photography, I think that helps. I always feel a bit clumsy when I have to imagine shading, highlights and colour without a real example.

EXcellent  :o

Good idea the pony I shall be inspired :)

I'm sad that Copplestone does not sculpt more civilians and sentries, etc, his range his great but it is "unit-minded" it lacks idle soldiers etc.

Wonderful set of figures  8)

Can I ask why a lot of bases are different to each other?

cheers

@ jimbibbly: I am afraid it was not intended so. Was sometimes not satisfied with some experiments, and sometimes had difficulties finding the same exact recipe of colours I used previously. I think bases are one of the weak point of this army. I first wanted to find a gray rocky tone, and while it may makes some sense for the intended battleground, it doesn't contrast enough with the gray uniforms.

Beautiful work!
I like the figures with bayonets (Brigade games, I think) to add variety to the Shock Troops
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...
