'Tis the season to be... goblin?!
« on: December 23, 2011, 09:59:56 AM »
So, with christmas closing in fast I thought it was time to post these little chaps! Bob Olley's Iron Claw (ie Citadel) goblins from 1989. Love them, and the pointy hats ofcourse had me thinking "evil gnomes" instead of gobbos. Thus, they have red hats. Whacky gobbos, eh? A contributing factor to the gnome look is the fact that I painted them to spruce up a christmas ornament my wife made for our kitchen table. Can never have too many goblins in your christmas ornaments, I say.

Did the one to the left first, as a trial (it's been more than 10 years since I painted green skins last) and thought the skin turned a bit too cold looking. The other two were more successful, but I'll continue experimenting to get a nice, ecclectic warband.

So with that, I wish you all a merry christmas!

(And btw... if you happen to have any spare pointy hat Olley goblins, please let me know as these three are all that I have.)

Edit: More ramblings and yapping on over at my blog thing:

Love the goblins, great work and lovely figures. I wasn't really aware of them I must say. Well done!  :-*
Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly

Very nice!

Festive Gobbo's, what more could you want?

Oh, a lovely christmas ornament for the table, too!
Your wife is obviously creative as well.  :)

Merry Christmas Mr and Mrs phreedh!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A JOYOUS NEW YEAR to you & your Beloved!

It seems that only the Goblins, with their tenuous hold on Reality, have maintained the Christmas Spirit this year. The Little Green Lads look TERRIFIC...especially in their role as Festive Ornaments. VERY WELL DONE!

I'll check the Vault of Pack Rattiness for any Pointy Hatted Fellows.

In folklore, there is a kind of Goblin called a "Redcap"*, which wears a hat dyed red in the blood of its victims.  Not so whacky!  See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redcap

* Not to be confused with British military police, who only rarely dip their caps in the blood of their victims ...

They were going to be called the red hat clan... but redcap. I like! Cheers Steve! They'll be duking it out with the cute and furry Bob Olley animals done for Splintered Lights. I look forward to paint those little blighters as they were what brought me back to leadoholism!
