Khorne fellas (pic heavy)
« on: December 27, 2011, 10:04:49 AM »
Hello gentlemen :)
I'd like to show you this crazy khorne champion I've done this summer. It's a GW shitcast...Did I say shitcast? Oh sorry, "finecast"  :-I
I do not love the red khorne "official" scheme, so I painted it in a bronze armour. Pretty happy with the result but I'm sorry for the crappy piccies :( I'm waitin for the photent to arrive.
Probably I'll do some more khorne fellows to go with him even if now I'm pretty busy with commissions...
Hope you like it guys, C&C welcome!

cheers
Faber

Stunning!

I think I like the bronze armour way more then the "traditional" red. you did a splendid job on making it look weathered, old and as being in constant use. Only almost didn't notice the khorne shaped necklace, due to it being in the same color as the rest of the armour :)
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

Very nice work! The brass suits Khorne well and it looks a bit more natural than painted armour, so a good choice there! I think I would have liked the verdigris a bit brighter, but this is also pretty subtle and nice. Great job!

VERY WELL DONE! I love the way you did the skulls. Even as someone who doesn't particularly like G.W's. Chaos minis, I like your creation.

thanks mate! :D You are right, it was better to paint the icon on the necklace in gold or silver :( too late...

thanks Pil! :) About the verdigris, I used a pretty bright GW's Hawk Turquoise...I think is the light condition to make it dark. I'll take some better photo as soon as I have a photo tent :)

Thanks DeafNala! :) I'm not a chaos lover too (my loyalty goes to the empire :D) but this model was too beautiful not to paint it. I think I'll use some RedBoxGames Hellskvat hordesmen for the rest of the warband.

Cheers!

Thanks Blue! ;)
I'd like to do: 1) his three heavy armoured bodyguards 2) a minotaur 3) some berserker/marauder. A little warband :) I have also five new GW's chaos knight at 80% finished (same brass style) but no time/interest in finish them for the moment  :?
BTW it will take months. I have some commission to do and two project running before this, an empire warband and  a dwarfs warband...

Cool stuff man :) realy nice paint job.

For the necklace, as the mini has a lot of orange in that area (armour) just bring some more  blue into the necklace and you will get the colour contrast you are after.

Awesome! Like the others, I really like your brass/bronze take on the armour.

And as I have a side project in the works to replace all the plastic minis in my Hero Quest game with metal ones, for which I have just acquired the last of the four Chaos Warriors,  you have now inspired me to give them all bronze armour!

Could you perchance share with us the recipy for your bronze? [que Puss in Boots large eyed cute look] :D
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Thanks Daeothar! But NO, I would never, NEVER, share the recipe. It is a family secret and I cannot...oh, well, but you are such a cute Puss...lol Simple recipe: 1)GW dwarf bronze base, 2)chainmail highlight and little scratches,3) wash the highlighted bronze with GW devlan mud, 4) GW hawk turquoise slighlty thinned here and there 5) back again chainmail  highlight 6) GW mithril silver super soft highlights.
This technique it's not mine, if I recall right it was on a article on the GW blog or something similar.
