HaT WWI Russian Putilov guns.
« on: December 28, 2011, 09:46:08 PM »
One of my Christmas presents was a box of 4 of HaT's Russian 76mm Putilov guns.  [Actually 3 as the box was mispacked with one British 4.5 howitzer.]  I found them easy to assemble and they will do good work for the Russians or the Soviets in a game or two.  The guns are hard plastic, while the crews are soft plastic and give you 8 men per gun--actually only 6 as 1 is for a rider on the limber  and one rides a limber horse.  But eventually all will be painted and out on the table.
I recommend the guns and crews highly.

Interesting information.
I look sometimes at 1/72 figures and models - the scale can play big battles on the table. There is a large selection of different weapons and equipment. With figures somewhat more complicated, but also you can collect many armies during this period. In addition, these models and figures are often inexpensive.

Here are some interesting models in 1/72 scale:

Gun from the pedestal can be removed (it is a Russian 76 mm gun mod. 1900).

Cuprum,
I have seen that first AAA Russian gun in the shop, but have not yet purchased it.  I do have the house, while my buddy has the barn.  Both are nice kits.
Jim.

I have that house, and my buddy has the barn, but we have not gotten them cobbled together yet.  We ahve been doing some WWII infnatry battles to test rules using Pegasus' Russian log buildings.

Only those houses - no log
Such houses are built mostly in the Ukraine. There's little forest - where the vast steppes.
These houses are built of clay or adobe bricks, coated with clay and whiten with lime. The roof - from the rushes.

Loghouses are built in areas rich forests.
 For example - in Belarus.

Cuprum,
I lived on the Great Plains here in North Dakota.  In the old days they made houses out of sod, laid grass side down.  A few are still out there.  Altho we tend to think of log cabins as truly American, they were brought to this country by the Swedes who settled in the Delaware area.
