1/50 Austin Putilov by ESPEWE - a quick review...

This AC was called 'Panzerwagen "Leninpanzer"', collectors number 100, in the GDR. It was made by ESPEWE, a model car producer of the GDR. Nowadays they are hard to get, but pop up on ebay Germany from time to time.

Qualitywise it is very close to the older Matchbox MoY-cars of the late 1960s. The overal detail is nicely done. The paintjob is a little bit grainy. The turrets were made of the notoriously hard (and probably brittle...) GDR-plastic, surprisingly with the cover for the non-existent Maxim machine guns. Maybe this has something to do with the deficiency disease of the GDR economy. Inserting new barrels shouldn't be that difficult.

The front lights suffer from some nasty sink holes and should be filled and repainted.

The cover of the rear axle is made of a rather soft green plastic. And so is also the cardan shaft which should be replaced with a length of brass wire.

When I looked at it for a closer examination, the AC fell apart. The rivets which held the upper hull were a little bit weary...
That was something which I didn't mind as I plan to strip off the paint anyway but it revealed some interesting insights.

All in all, if you should have the the chance to get one for a reasonable price (but certainly not more than 30 Euros...), get it by all means. It's nice.
TANK POLO? God, how our gardener hated that game!

It would be great if you could take a profile shot with a miniature for scale next to it.

Yep, here you are:

Comparison shot with an older England Invaded miniature, which is a rather "larger" 28mm miniature.

This time with a 28mm Warzone figure.

And now with a Warmachine miniature, which is dubbed by PP as 30mm.

Well, if you like it a little bit odd...

Some pics may look a little strange, but I never base my vehicles. Since I've got neither a suitable RCW/BoB miniature at hand, I hope this might help at least a little bit.

An armoured Quar!

Sorry, couldn´t let that one pass.

Looks great, and right in scale, too. The phrase must be used with caution, but "it wasn´t ALL bad back in the GDR".

Thanks for the scale pictures.  I LOVE the Qwar shot; it's completely appropriate.  In fact, if I owned any of those Qwar I'd now feel that I absolutely MUST have one of these armored trucks.

I'm glad you like the Quar pics, as I've chosen to go further down that way. Fluffwise, you've got tons of opportunities and conversion potential there...

Love the Quars, too. They are high on my 'forget they exist' list for armies I don't need but will eventually buy...
If you come for the king, you better not miss (Omar)
