Gunbirds KGN Weekend forces (28/3 Finished!)
« on: January 11, 2012, 07:04:39 PM »
Well, righto. Date set, ticket booked, list made, (most of the) forces assembled.

I've opted for this (pre-made) list:
Player 4 - Feldwebel Brasche

Dismounted Grenadier Platoon
Sniper
StuG G Squadron
HMG Team
Panzerschrek Team
Medium Mortar Team
Pak 40 + tow

plus 2 Supply trucks

The only things I have ready are the supply trucks    I'll pick 2 of these:

And I just finished the tow for the Pak 40, a Cromwell RSO/1, a real beaut of a cast.

First of the infantry, started with the support

81mm mortar

Panzerschreck team

All Britannia, I sanded down the top of their boots and GS some extra pants. Box for Panzerschreck is from SHQ.

PS I do realise they all have infantry piping, which isn't what Lehr had, but I want to build a infantry army first and a panzergrenadier army second, this way this army can work as Volksgrenadiers for late 44 onwards as well.

Always loved the RSO.  I need to get a couple in 1/48 for my WWWII Antarctic gamin'.

Great paint,
Brian

Sniper and PaK 40 done

The sniper is a converted Britannia "Hollywood" model that I picked up second hand and suffered, like a lot in that particular box, from broken ankles on arrival in the mail (badly packaged). Waste not, want not, I cut him in half, resculpted it a bit and gave him a scope. Now I have a sniper that fits in with my force.

3 Britannia crew, the spotter has new pants. SHQ PaK 40 (lovely model) and I've painted the (oversize) shells as Pzgr. Patr. 39 cause they look very distinctive. V base for the gun for ease of placement of the model as well as the remmovable gunners.

First platoon is now finished.

And some individual shots.

The guard with a poncho is a conversion based off a drawing. Of course, after I finished it I realise I didn't get it quite right (needs more fabric and the pattern is a bit too big) but he'll look grand on the table anyway.

Last unit of the German platoon:

Needed for the list but not this game, my Medic:

Not needed for this list but will return in my late 45 list, another Medic:

(Rather charcaterful chap, miscast, I chopped off his arm, added a new one plus a white flag so I could use when my army was defeated, changed my mind and wanted to use him as a supression marker. Then changed my mind again and made him a medic for my 1945 army)

Another for my list, a Messenger, will be on loan to Brodir:

2 120mm mortars (crew will follow later), also on loan to Brodir:

1 infantry gun plus towed version, finally finished. But not for this game.

And a note of thx for Taylor, who helped me out with a pile of Britannia figs so I could complete this army!  :clapping:

To do: 1 MMG team, 2 120mm crews, 1 gun crew plus 1 FAO team (all have their gloss coat drying now) and 3 Stugs that are basecoated but I need to get finished in the next 4 days.....no pressure!

HMG team:

MMG teams:

Infantry gun team:

And the army (without the transports and the FAO car)

I'll reshoot the full army when I'm there
