Very nice  8) but I'm afraid your flag is wrong. It should be the rayed sun version with a small white square at the bottom next to the pole with the regimental number on it. Also it should probably have purple tassels all the round the edge.

Though if a reference has shown you what you have already I'd love to see it  :)

I've got a few Japanese books on the subject but the main one is 'Japanese Military uniforms 1841-1929' and I think it's published by a company called Kaiga.

Also, the new Foundry book has info in it as well.

They were about 600mm square for the cavalry and 1000mm x 800mm for the infantry. The rays should be 16 but they could be anywhere from eight to 18.

Hope this helps  :)

Nice unit. I am guessing OG?

He is a wealth of Japanese information is that Mr Bibbly but remember he has a lot of help with the lingo from his good lady wife. I think she is the real expert and he just repeats bits and bobs he picks up ;)

There are no regiment numbers on them but I have a pdf sheet of square and rectangular rayed sun flags I made up a while ago if you want a copy. Just send me an email by pm.
