Okay, first up, mealie bag barricades and the final redoubt.  Nothing fancy, cheap brown primer, heavy off white drybrush, brown wash made from craft paint, Future and water, a few shell casings made from plastic sprue and some static grass.

Frankly I did the easy stuff first just so I could have something done... lol

The shell casings are a lovely touch. Great job.

Nice to see some close-up shots of these for the first time. Really like the detail of the weave on the bags. The only slight niggle I have with them is the way some of them seem to sit on each other like stiff, rigid objects, rather than settling like bags filled with grain. That's a very small issue, though. I would happily use them in one of my games.

Thanks for posting them. I hope you'll share more pics with us as you make progress with the set.

As someone who buys, loads then unloads/stacks for storage between 8-10 50lb bags of feed every couple of weeks for the horses, I know what you mean about the stacking...

I console myself by knowing that in Zulu! the actors are obviously moving bags of cotton or something light, and those bags may indeed stack this way.   ;)

I have the two wagon barricades primed and will probably hit them next, once I finish up my Game Craft livery stable I'm working on.

Nice progress.

My big issue in starting will be the weather as it's way to cold to spray.  I think I have to bring this set over my cigar smoking bachelor friends house. He wouldn't notice the smell.  :)

Okay, finished up the two resin wagon barricades.   I'm pretty happy with them.

Again, cheap craft paints.  Shell casings made from fishing line (I was out of plastic rod)   ;D.

Let me know what you think.

Your set is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see you tackle the buildings.

Nice,
I was planning on buying some Pegasus Models' sand bags soon, but I really like the look of these.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen.

As for the buildings, I'm probably going to hit them close to last.

They intimidate me.   :D

Those are possibly the most realistic looking sandbags I have ever seen.

My daughter and I painted up the stone kraal sections this last week and finished them up this morning.

The set comes with 12 sections, each 6 inches long and in a mix of destroyed/falling apart and in good shape.

All are VERY nicely detailed.

These were primed with cheap black spray paint.   The rocks were then painted gray with craft paints, and then drybrushed with craft paints.  The dirt was painted a dark brown then drybrushed.   Finally, some flock was used on the broken kraal sections to show plants growing between the rocks to help show they are old and out of repair and static grass applied to parts of the base.

My daughter helped with the drybrushing and with the flock and grass.  She enjoys it and I enjoy her help.

A quick easy part of the project, and I think they look good, especially for a no-talent hack like myself.   ;)  Of course, that is probably due to my daughter's help (as she has pointed out).

Coming along very nicely!  :-*

I'd sure like to have some of those mealie bag terrain pieces, but I doubt they will be available anytime soon.
