Q: Wirbelwind or Ostwind in 1/56 scale?
« on: January 27, 2012, 03:36:06 AM »
I have been looking around, and dont seem to be able to find any german Flakpanzer Ostwind or Wirbelwind in 1/56 scale anywhere from any supplier. Any suggestions?

Yes, I do realise that I can take a panzer and make it my self, I propably have the skill to at least not make it look like total crap, but still, its a matter of time and effort. I like building kits and painting them, custom stuff are meant to be fun, and not forced upon me because of slacking model crafters! :D

By the way, NO I am not going 20mm, it is the devils own scale, and you know it :-P

Okay I found out that Company B will make a seperate Whirbelwind turret, wich would be perfect, so I can use Die Waffenkammers Panzer IV hull for it. A Ostwind variant would have been nice as well, but in the end I think I prefer the Wirbelwind anyway.

While I am at it. I am desperatly coming to the point where I need a Tiger IE later version, and simply cant wait for one from Die Waffenkammer, even though I would have wanted that, I will get a few when they are released for production, but I need one for gaming soonish. So with that in mind, have anyone here bought Warlords late Tiger version? I can say straight away that I prefer Waffenkammers vehicles over any other, but is this tank good enough? I have a Warlords Stug and it cant be compared to Waffenkammers. What I want to know is, I suppose, is it okay to get Warlords Tiger IE and use it, or does it look like a shoebox of resin?

Their Tiger (Warlords) is very good, only a little bit of resin (to put together) and goes together well. It even has zimmerit :)

Not much longer to wait for a zimmerit coated Tiger I from Die Waffenkammer, Galland. I'm currently working on 2 masters.

Cheers,

Our whirbelwind turret should be out soon.  It uses our quad 20mm flak, minus a few bits, and will fit JTFM's Panzer IV or ours just fine.

I'll check on the status with the casting fellows...

Thank you Blackwolf for the nice pictures, much appreciated! Also, thank you Brent, good news are allways welcome, especially when its about toys that are really wanted :D

The future is bright for 28mm Wargaming WWII. I say pox on all you pesky 20mm wargamers, soon we will burn your tables and plow salt in the remains! :D
