Where to buy Cornfields for 28mm?
« on: February 01, 2012, 02:14:40 PM »
I'm looking to add some cornfields/ploughed fields to my terrian for Darkest Africa in 28mm. Thought about making my own out of a doormat, but then thought I'd by them ready made and save myself the hassle. I've found a cornfield at ESLO, http://www.gelaendestuecke.de/ but can anyone suggest some other manufacturers aswell?

Thanks Marc.

'Corn' can mean a lot of things. In some parts of the English-speaking world, it means what we English call maize.

Agreed, but not in Wales - the location of the OP ;)

I got some very passable ready made fields from here:

I got mine when he had a sale on but his non-sale prices are very reasonable.
Here they are in action along with some home made ones I made from synthetic grass samples:

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Some nice links there! Matakishi I think I will go with the cornfield in your link. The ploughed fields look good too!

In the past I would have made my own, but now I'm back in college part time, and holding down a full time job, its hard enough to find time to fit in painting my figures let alone making scenery!

Love the pic by the way Matakishi, I take it those buildings are scratch built? They look stunning.

Noswaith dda.

Have you thought of making your own from a door mat. The crop field in the link looks like it uses a piece of one.

Noswaith dda! Gobeithio ti yn dda Twrchtrwyth.

I have thought about making my own out of a doormat. But I have so much on these days, its finding the time. I'm hard pressed to find time to paint my figures let alone do scenery, and I'm a slow worker at the best of times.

The stuff Matakishi linked looks nice and does'nt cost much so I'll go with them.

Railway model shops should have large terrain mats of various ground types. I have a roll of ploughed field and yellow wheat/maize/corn field somewhere on my attic, so it helps to just check some online retailers.
