Shock baton recommendations

Hi all,

I am about to start converting some plastic Viridians into heavily-armoured riot cops for an upcoming game. I like their shields and want to match them with some batons. Given the high-tech nature of the armour, I would like the batons to be a bit more than just sticks; some kind of stun baton a la Demolition Man would be nice. Does anyone make something like this for the conversion? Anything you recommend converting into that kind of weapon?

All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

GW arbites (the latest release) had some on a sprue that were nice looking. If you search "shock maul arbites" there are several examples of coversions done with tubes and greenstuff.

It might be expensive to source just the batons in sufficient numbers for your force.  How many figures are you converting?  Could you add some techno looking gribblies from the bits-box?

If you have some of the old RT lasguns, then the barrels would make fairly convincing batons.

If you have an art or hobby store local that stocks Plastruct architectural plastics, they have several fluorescent colors of 1/8" and smaller plastic rod.

You can cut a short length and add it to a sword or axe handle. If you think it will be too much like a light saber, then use something like a poweraxe, and just replace the tip where the axe head begins with the fluorescent rod so there is some haft beyond the grip. You could also add another piece to the end of the colored rod so it looks like a high tech mace with an energized core.

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone. I knew I could rely on LAF's encyclopaedic knowledge! I think I am going to try the plastic rod thing for the rank-and-file troopers, and maybe chop up a power axe from the bits box for the leader to mark him out as fancy.

They look like basic clubs but I'm thinking that if you were to cut the main "body" into a few equal-sized sections, it would result in sort of a segmented look and thus spruce it up a bit.
