Question for Pappa Midnight
« on: February 09, 2012, 10:40:09 PM »
In surfing the internet I ran into your Theater/The Palace showing Dawn of the Dead.  If the theater wasn't scratch built, do you remember who made it?  In terms of topic this probably doesn't belong here but I was rather certain Pappa Midnight would visit this sit.  Thanks.  Richard

Did a quick search of PM's gallery and found it named. Looks like its a Walthers piece.

Unfortunately it's out of production and runs nearly $300 on ebay.  But there's seems to be a smaller O gauge theater for about $35, and I'm looking into that.

War:  You might want to check out the Palace Theater with Lighted Marquee manufactured by O Gauge Railroad Publishing (OGR Publishing) from their Ameri-towne line.  It looks great and costs a lot less - $75 MSRP.

Myrlyn, this looks great.  I didn't know about it.  They make another one, less dramatic called the Palace Theater (item number 867) for $34.95.  I'm going to check into both.  Thanks for pointing this one out to me.  Much appreciated.  Richard

I was able to pick up the cheaper of the two theaters from Walthers for $34.95.  Actually it is the same building as the one for $99.00 but without the dramatic sign, but it does have a nice sign; just smaller.

Glad you found a reasonably priced alternative War!  I'm probably going to end up picking up several of the Ameri-towne buildings for my city board in the near future.  Like you I'll probably opt for the non-lighted version of the theater.  I thought you wanted the lighted version though, which is why I was suggesting the lighted version.  If I'd known that was optional I would have steered you toward the unlit version first.  :)  Be sure to post some pics once you get it painted up!

Myrlyn, I do appreciate the help.  When I get my city streets together, I'll definitely post.  Thanks.  Richard
