Bang Bang
« on: February 10, 2012, 03:00:36 PM »
"I was five and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks
He wore black and I wore white
He would always win the fight

Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down.

Seasons came and changed the time
When I grew up, I called him mine
He would always laugh and say
"Remember when we used to play?"

Bang bang, I shot you down
Bang bang, you hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, I used to shoot you down.

Music played and people sang
Just for me the church bells rang.

Now he's gone, I don't know why
And 'till this day, sometimes I cry
He didn't even say goodbye
He didn't take the time to lie.

Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down"

We had a "Miniature Exchange" on a Dutch forum. The guy who I had to paint a miniature for wanted something 'not GW', preferably a Studio McVey miniature. I only have their limited editions at home and no way I'd part with them ;). I did have three nice Statuesque miniatures at home and one gave me a nice idea. So I clipped off the robot under her foot and pinned her to a resin Kerr&King base and on a plinth from Fenris. For colors it was great to work with yellow again. I painted it with Foundry yellows until she was quite bleached yellow in color. Then a couple of glazes with yellow ink and the deep yellow pops up nicely. For the black stripe I decided not to follow Kill Bill's Bride too much as her motorsuit has black striped all over the sides (a bit similar to a mold line!). So I painted it on her arms and on the front. Base is a combination of pigments and an experiment on the stonework. I added two resin bullet casings to fit in with the title. Finally, I painted the title and blood spatters on the plinth.
She was terrific to paint, lovely sculpt from Statuesque 8)

Very nice Malebolgia.  :-*

Yellow is a difficult color to do and yours looks great. Nice basing, shading on the hair, and detailing on the face.

Beautiful !
I've bought several brands of yellow paint but find it a pain in the S to get decent results.
Never thought of using yellow ink. what brand is it ?

Hey,

I started out with Foundry Lemon 1B. I basically covered the whole miniature with it. I then took Foundry 1A, mixed it with Vallejo Glazing Medium and glazed the whole miniature with it. Then I highlighted it back up with Lemon 1B, then Lemon 1C and finally Lemon 1C + white. THis gives a bleached yellow. Then I took Citadel Yellow Ink (not available anymore, but Vallejo still makes it IIRC), thinned it with water and glazed the whole miniature two times. I added some extra shading with thinned down Citadel Snakebite Leather and added some highlights with Lemon 1C. Done! :)

Excellent paintwork and a lovely yellow on a fab mini. She reminds of the Major from Ghost in the Shell.
