Serving the feathered Serpent(Aztecs for Impetus)
« on: February 06, 2012, 11:08:22 AM »
I've finally started my Impetus Aztec army as I felt this is the perfect year to do so with the heavy Mesoamerican mythology prevalent in the news, discussions and programs this year.
The unit presented here is of Eagle Warriors or rather Eagle knights advancing through some ruins directed by their captain which may be familiar to those who have followed my blog as I originally did him as a single model. The ornate back banner was something worn only by captains/leaders and was a conversion piece with the banner coming standard and the banner bracket holder self made along with the small platform and stairs which are also self made.
The Figures are from Foundry's discontinued Mesoamerican range of which I still don't know why they have done so. Happily I've been able to acquire what I need both before and after they stopped the range.
I'll be adding the Spanish for sure and maybe the Inca at some point.
Thanks for viewing!

I like them  :-* :-*

The base is very busy and looks good also. Were the shields a bugger to paint being sculpted feathers?

Wow!  Inspires me to start on those Aztecs languishing in my pile of lead.

I´m always playing with the idea to make aztecs (and Conquistadores) for Impetus or In The Land of El Dorado ant this encourages me  ;)

Lovely work on the sctracth built banner cage too, that is no mean feat of modelling. When I did it I bastardised a TAG one but this looks great

Thanks guys and if I remember right I did the banner mount out of metal pin rods and thread hardened up with some glue.

Those are great. Really like the bases, too.  Got any cacti to go with the spiky grass?
