A couple of Rogue Trader classics
« on: February 06, 2012, 09:52:25 PM »
Well I think they're classics anyway. Fun to paint and best of all they're just for me!  :D

Think I prepped them back in 2006 and they spent the intervening years good to go but left to one side and gathering dust.

I should point out that the number on the guardsman's badge is a decal.

Classics to me too.

Lovely paintwork on those two.  :D

With a PJ that crisp, you'd better  ;)

stone-cold-lead, what is your skin recipe? these sandy colors work very well.

Usually a base coat of GW Foundation Tallarn Flesh with a bit of VGC Beasty Brown mixed in, then a quick highlight of pure Tallarn Flesh before adding increasing amounts of VGC Bonewhite and then a bit of white.

Thanks for the comments all, glad everyone likes the oldies. I'd forgotten how easily these old figures paint up. None of that all day painting only to realise you're only half way done!

This is why I love this hobby. How many other places will you find people asking for skin recipes? Cannibal websites maybe?

I wish they would get back to this aesthetic with some updated sculpts.

Impressive, without a doubt the best painting I've seen on those guys. I have a stack of the first one, I'll need to give it a go now that you've set the bar so high :)
