If they weren't classics before, they are now!

I wish they would get back to this aesthetic with some updated sculpts.

I've wanted GW to do that for years and just put out a range of various sci-fi adventurers/characters again, but of course unless it's a unit type for Warhammer it'll never happen. The other problem these days is that characters tend to get plastered in all manner of detailz and made into superheroes as if that's what makes a character piece.

Both are exquisite but the second guy has that definitive Imperial Guard look that reminds me of my earliest GW purchases.  The definitive IG look to me (and likely to a lot of you guys).

The orange jumpsuit reminds me of something that I cant place, ground crew from a sci-fi movie or something.  Is it inspired by something specific?

I have been trying to track down some of the old RT era Adventurers recently, but havent had much luck.  I did dig out the old Goodwin Assassin and paint that.  I dont paint to your very high standard stone-cold-lead, but I did enjoy painting it all the same.  GW from that era obviously has less detail but often a lot more charm.

Thats preaching to the choir around here anyway :)

Fantastic work.

X-Wing pilot perhaps?  ;)

The early guards (back when they were just Imperial Army) and the second pattern with plastic arms are definately my idea of guardsmen. Think I have a few platoons worth of the plastic ones with metal command stashed away.

And I'll take charm over detail any day.

With a dash of Imperial officer tunic and 'pips' as well of course!

Lovely pj's amazing finish. I too have a love of the old 'army' and first copplestone metal bodied, plastic armed IG. I should do, I have over 80 of the blighters and 20 rough riders unbuilt to boot!! One day my preciouses one day!

It's great to see those old sculpts - I think they have so much more personality than the new stuff.  And you paint jobs are fantastic!

Absolutely great stuff. Your painting syle suits those figs perfectly. Actually I think your painting style would suit any fig perfectly.

Thank you for sharing those old minis with us. It was nice to see them again.
