all has been said about the cracking PJ, so won't add to that. Those classics just went to another level. Hardly even recognize those as GW minis..

This grey is cracking. Awesome painting.

Thanks.  :)

It's just VGC Cold Grey highlighted with VGC Stonewall Grey on the uniform and GW Foundation Adeptus Battlegrey highlighted with VGC Cold Grey on the body armour and kit.

I would be more than happy to see a tutorial how to paint like that ;). What kind of techniques you use?

Lovely work on those...especially the faces  :-*.

It is a shame that the miniatures are so poorly proportioned...they look to me a bit like oversized Hobbits with boots on. The faces are so full of character though :).

I've been wondering about doing some sort of tutorial that demonstrates the actual techniques I use rather than just listing the colour recipes. It would be easier to show in real time but I can't make videos so I'll have to try and use still images. I do have a commission to start this week where I need to keep WIP shots for the client so maybe I can expand that to include more than a simple step by step record.

I basically use layering to build up the highlights but I tend to feather and crosshatch the layers rather than leaving a hard edge.

Well I think they're classics anyway. Fun to paint and best of all they're just for me!  :D

Think I prepped them back in 2006 and they spent the intervening years good to go but left to one side and gathering dust.

I should point out that the number on the guardsman's badge is a decal.

Awesome! Really great job painting these. I hate when people say the old sculpts aren't as good as the new ones. They had so much character and when painted well look spectacular. Everyone using the same figs is so boring...
