Nice! They sure look like Copplestone's. And it's a fact he started at Dixon.

interesting option for headswaps....
Which codes are these? On the Dixon site I see a lot of individual miniatures mostly without pics!

I recon I've painted most of the Dixon range over the years but I dont remember any of these, you sure it's Dixon?

Could be I lost that synapse connection though, I'm getting old  ;)

Got them in the mail today and I confirm these are fantastic miniatures. Even though early work from Copplestone, they look more detailed than some stuff he did for Citadel later on. Definately still up to today's standards.

Highly recommended.

Neat packaging from Dixon too, by the way.

cheers!

Copplestone? Really?
Sure they're not by Mike Owen?
Something about the faces reminds me more of his stuff (not got a clue if Mike ever did any work for Dixon, but there's just something about them that makes me think... )

Mike Owen did work for Dixon - Dahomey for one but as I scrolled past Lowtardogs pics I was thinking they looked like Copplestone poses even back then.  I am sure if someone was to ask he would gladly confirm or deny.

The way the feet, eyebrows and ears are sculpted, and the general pose of the figs confirm they are Copplestone's to me.  :D
Mike Owen has a different style altogether, and when you see pics of the Dahomey (there are some on flickr, I think linked from a topic on here), their poses are very different.

No doubt someone will confirm one way or the other for sure. Mike does occasionally drop by here at LAF.
The faces really remind me of some of his sea dogs and old west types - even though they're Japanese!
The more i look at them, the more convinced i am. Owen, not Copplestone...

Of course, i'm probably completely wrong...  :)

So, it appears I'm a delusional frothing fanboy, and it was all just wishful thinking!  lol lol
Speaks the man himself:
Quote from: Mark Copplestone
I did make some unarmoured samurai and ronin for Dixon Miniatures, along with  - nearly 30 years ago - but not those codes.
I sculpted nearly all the Legends of Nippon range, including the samurai and ronin (and bandits and monks).  The codes you mention were sculpted by Trevor Dixon himself.
I'm still amazed though, because these Ronin DO resemble Copplestone's style.
Clearly Trevor Dixon had a great influence on him.

As that is the case I would say Trevor Dixon was better than Mr Copplestone as they are very nice minis indeed :D I did think at first they would have been Owen as they have a bit of a look around the face and poses
