Aargh!

That cannon looks fantastic!  :-*

I wouldn't fit it to the deck either.  ;)

Just add a slot (or round hole, if you want the guns to be able to rotate) and put tabs/pegs on the bottom of your guns/hatchcover/bollard/what-have-yous.

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

You could always use neodymium magnets to fix that gun support.
interchangeable & rotating at once.

Magnets are our friends. How did we manager before?

I was thinking the same thing. I will most likely use a magnet for the prop as well and it will allow it to "sort of" rotate and be easily removable for transportation in a box.
So much to do, so little time...

Having not used foam board much before, the above tip has proved to be the best possible advice!
my addition would be

Always drag/pull/draw while cutting foam, never push! So ... too steep/high-angled is not good also.

@ topic
so far it looks really great! I am keen to see the final model

I am going to try to make a prop and I though I would try by starting with some sprue to give me a four blade option.

Here it is all cleaned up. I may try to make it rotate using a simple pin...

I though I would go for rectangular blades which should fit with the very angular design of the overall ship.

Have made the two tail fins, still need to add rivets, lots of rivets.

Added some blades to the prop. These are all slightly angled, but it does not show up in the pic much.

And then rivets.

I spent ages making rivets from plastic card using a hole punch, I thought I had made loads, plenty in fact. Then I started glueing them on to to cabin section and ran out. Funny how a pile of 80 or so looks enough but quickly disappears. So then I cut a load more for the hull and they disappeared really quick as well.

Based on how many I have used so far, I reckon I need at least another 100. Thats will make about 300 I will have stuck on this thing. Its not like they are easy to cut either, the leather belt hole punch thing I am using actually requires quite a bit of effort to make one!

Anyway, I guess that is all part of the pain involved in the hobby...

I stopped counting rivets on my stuff ages ago  lol

You might find it easier to get styrene rod and cut slivers from that. It takes a bit of practice to get them approximately the same thickness but it's quicker then a hole punch, the other thing being that the size of rivets you get depends on the rod used  :)

Your wee ship is looking very promising! I don't know if this helps, but some of the guys here started this thread on rivets....

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=16089.0

....some really good techniques and ideas on there. As well as that, if you want a more shallow rivet, you can press a pen onto the reverse side of thin plastic card or I find glossy magazine cover just as good....

Thanks James, I had thought about the same solution. I will take a trip to my local model shop to see what they have. 2mm seems the best size as I can actually pick them up with tweezers and position them easily enough, anything smaller and I will get hacked off...
