A Tribute to Sax Rohmer
« on: February 12, 2012, 11:15:50 PM »
Thought I'd post this here, and not get into too much trouble as I am noticing some thematic songs pop up now and then on the forums.

This band has always been my go to for years now for making me feel uplifted when I'm down, or bringing me right back down again when I'm feeling fine. John Maus said something to the effect that lyrics are what killed music, in the classical sense (and I'm sure he was quoting someone else to that effect as well), going on to state that most of it is a sort of psycho babble poetry- i.e. Yeats was a better poet than Bob Dylan. Yet I still find some comfort in the pairing.

This video/song has no pulp imagery, but the themes painted there in are some of the best tributes one can give to a pulpy sensibility without cheesing it too much. And the music video is pretty ingenious too.

Let me know what you think!
