Wayland's Smithy pictures?
« on: February 18, 2012, 12:13:31 AM »
Hi all,

My google-fu has failed me.  I am after an aerial photo or diagram especially of the cross shaped entrance way of the Wayland's Smithy barrow.  I am trying to get an idea of the layout of the stones as I am looking to base some terrain on the mound.

Anyone know of a diagram or photo online?

That brings back some memories: visited there on a day trip to the area to see the Smithy and the White Horse whilst studying for my Prehistoric Archaeology Diploma.

My kids love playing around there ... it's an atmospheric place (unless someone's kids are running all over it  :D )

Uffington Castle, White Horse, the mound in front of the castle and Wayland's Smithy was a great day which I will always remember.

To top it off, there was crop circle opposite the horse.  lol
