15mm Dungeon Tile Project
« on: February 16, 2012, 07:09:59 PM »
I have been scratching away at this project for a while. Thought I would let my fellow LAFfers take a look.

http://leadaddict.blogspot.com/search/label/15mm%20Foam%20Dungeon

Its a Dungeon tile project for 15mm. Overall tile pieces are 3" square. Grid(tiles) is made using 18mm cheap glass tiles from Home Depot. Walls are made from pink foam. All detail on walls are cut with an xacto and many blades.

They were made quick and ruff, and I wasn't as cncerned with super precision, as I was about volume and ease to complete the project. In the end I really like the way they turned out. about 60-70 tiles and a few big rooms.

Miniatures are individually based. Working on rules now. The idea was to be able to lay down a random dungeon and random monster, doa crawl with my boys and have some fun. Loot decks, monster decks, etc. Similar to Warhammer Quest, but with different mechanics. More on that later.

Here's some preview pics:

Once I am done with the first round of monsters, I will do 3-4 warbands to start with. Then a play test.

Hope you enjoy.

Brilliant work!  Makes me want to pull out the 15mm fantasy stuff again!

Inspired idea well executed.  Seeing as I've basically finished my own custom set of dungeon-crawl rules (ripped largely from AHQ and Mordheim) I'm certainly interested to hear about your own.

A cracking idea, that looks very well executed.

Great use of the tiles and that should make the storage of everything a whole lot easier.

Looking good, especially the pool and the stains! One thing I'm not sure about it the way you've highlighted the black tiles, though. Think they'd look better plain black, maybe with a little brown pastel chalk rubbed on and/or a thin dark gray/brown opaque wash.

thanks everybody.

The tiles were really easy to make and did I mention cheap? A sheet of glass tiles was $4.00 for 169 tiles. And everyone has foam around from some project.

Bases are MDF cut at home.

As we start to develop a rule set for these(certainly involving a dice pool mechanic ala Goalsystem) I'll let you guys know how its going.

My other goal for this is to use it as a convention game, and have one side be the Dungeon Keeper(like the old video game) and one side the be the heroes(or invaders depending how you look at it). Some basic resource management for both sides maybe or random dugeon piece generation or some such thing. We'll see.

Very nice! What range are you using for your party of adventurers? I didn't see them on the Khurusan site (unless you pulled them from the historical line).

Almost all of my adventurers are taken from the Demonworld line. I have boxes of them from way back, and now since they are being released everyone can see how truly amazing those sculpts really were.

I have about 10 warbands of about 5-7 each. Fighting men, elves, wizards, priests, dwarves, barbarians, etc.
