Awesome work, looking forward to seeing it painted

As I said when I posted the grindhound link:

In the latter stages of the occult wars Himmler ordered the development of the V3 Ballongrausigkeiten ultimate sanction.

Where the V1 and V2 programmes delivered instant shock and terror. The V3 gyroscopically controlled Ballongrausigkeiten would be dropped over allied controlled territories to drift on the wind, pressure valves automatically begin to release the helium from the balloons at 2000 feet, slowly the descent and bringing their deadly cargo of undeath to the ground safely, a slowing drifting tide of infection and disease...swelling their ranks with the newly infected.

Alternatively, ground launching sites have been spotted, mobile holding pens and launch facilities, moved into areas of contested control, launched from the ground into dense urban areas, this is almost akin razing the ground, instead of ash and flame, death and stench.... a literal no man's land..... an ultimate sanction.

They must be stopped at all costs.

Nice done pops, on my list to do also.

I saw a documentary a while ago where the Japanese actually tried something similar with virus bombs launched on ballons, I think if memory serves me they may have even been rats with plague :D

Edit: here is the article on the weapons

Very nice conversion work. Keep it up PM. I can't wait to see it painted. Any plans to make multiple zombie balloons?

Thank you all for the comments!

I did indeed get the idea from the ill-fated "Worse Case Scenario". I saw a trailer ages ago and the idea stuck in my head. I saw some cheap balls of polystyrene and something clicked!

I took the 3" polystyrene ball and covered it in tissue paper covered in PVA glue. This was to stop it get "Eaten" by spraying it with primer. I got some fine gauze netting ( my wife is a dress maker), covered it and painted that with PVA. I detailed the bottom of it with a valve from my bits box and some gas tanks.
The hardest part was the harness. I used 4 heavy duty sewing needles and stuck them at regular intervals at the base of the balloon. I then got some plastic-card and made a hoop and attached it to them. On the underside of the hoop I used four more needles to make the harness straps and attached them to a T-shaped frame upon which to attach the Zombie.
I then added small details like loops to attach ropes to ( towing eyes from a 72nd scale panzer kit).
It took longer to find the parts than to build!
The base was easy.... Just some 1:48 Tamiya scenery parts for the wall and telegraph pole and some debris from my bits box to make it a little more interesting.

Hope that was of some use!!!

Thanks again for the comments and I'll post some pics when it's painted.
If this one turns out OK, I'll build some more.

Regards
