Is it possible to magnetise imperial state troopers
« on: April 11, 2012, 08:17:51 AM »
Like the title says i was just wondering can you magnetise the GW state troops and the crossbow/handgunner so that you can swap the weapons out and also does anyone know what size magnets i would need to do that or would pinning be a better option.

I've magnetised only a warmachine converted khador 'jack to be able to swap his left fist with a cannon.

It was not easy despite the big area where I added the magnets. I think it would be pretty hard to do such a thing on state troopers. To small in my opinion. And consider it is not a quick work.

There are quite a lot of Mordheim players that do this, especially to plastic gw miniatures, so it can absolutely be done. I dont bother my self, since I prefer my miniatures as they are, and if I get another pistol or whatnot, I have it, and everyone will have to deal with it (litteraly :-P).

Hello Bubbles, take a look at this thread at the warhammer empire forum, this guy uses magnets a lot; there are some really nice examples by page four:

How can you see from these 23 pages of empire, he magnetised only command group models and some heroes. To magnetise an entire unit would be a crazy work. Galland is right, it is possible and you can do it but I still think it is a time consuming job. You'd better use your time to paint some miniature more IMO :)

Hehe, well I agree with you, but I confess to the fact that I have been considering magnetising some of my Mordheim figures in the past, and its not that much work. There are wonderful little miniatures now, in all kinds of sizes.
