Warmaster armies
« on: February 25, 2012, 08:27:53 PM »
While going through stuff to sell on EBay this weekend my eye returned to my Warmaster armies.  They are an Undead and a High Elf army and they haven't seen action in a very long time.  I also have Battle of the Five Armies, with the same issue, which I refer to as Warmaster Lite.

So, why didn't I sell?  Because they're all painted and I wonder if I would regret letting them go......  :'(

Is there another set of rules that I could use them with to revive their flagging morale?
'So do all who see such times. But that is not for us to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that we are given.'

So what exactly is it that you don't like with Warmaster and what do you want in your game?
For something simple you can't beat HOTT I don't think. Easy to pick up and currently free. Or are you looking for something a bit more complex?

HOTT I have in 28mm, I was looking for a simpler Warmastery type game that anyone could pick up and play.

Some friends of mine have recently played Kings of War with thier Warmaster armies , they  agreed  how many bases made a troop , regt , and a horde and went at it , i think they changed from inches to centimetres but they say it gave them a great feel for a massed combat game and all the elements were well represented by thier figures .
Kings of War is a good simple rule set thats gives a good enough game without all the headaches and its a free download if you just want to try it out or an $8 AUS investment gives you the rule book and all the official Mantic lists .

I think this rule set would fulfill your needs sutably well

cheers Tom

DBA/HOTT is a good suggestion.

You could also try experimenting with Field of Glory rules with Warmaster based armies, so long as they are based in 40mm (slight variances in depths, but very playable)... though they do not have army lists for fantasy, you could improvise.
