 :)

The pictures were mostly from Lugard and Johnston. I can provide most of those (plus others he didn't use if you want). The photos of painted figures I cannot, I'm afraid.

Some of these pics were used in the article. That'll get you started:

I'll go hunt down the Lugard ones.

The pics used in the article from the Lugard book, plus a few pertinent ones that weren't used...

Between this and the Harry Johnston thread you have most of the non-mini pictures from the two-part article, plus a whole bunch of others.

I'll have to write one on the Portuguese efforts to get hold of Nyasaland. Lot's of good scenarios there... I know there were a few joint operations with the Brits. ;)

Part One was issue 141 (June 1999). History and scenarios.
Part Two was issue 142 (July 1999).  Force composition, troop types, equipment and fighting styles of the factions plus figure suggestions.

Kingscarbine's link above contains the text of both parts.

If I recall (and we are going back a while) there were a few articles around that time from Chris Peers about possible Darkest Africa scenarios e.g.  I remember one involving Henry Stanley.

It was a fairly new genre then and there was a lot of interest.
