Elders' Zombie Thread
« on: March 01, 2012, 12:07:05 PM »
Hey all, I am a new member and have been browsing the PA section of this board for a while.
Ive been playing a bunch of zombie games with friends at school. But we didnt have any models, we used pennies for shamblers, dimes for fast zombies, nickels for survivors etc etc.

So recently I've bought a pack of 100 Zombies!!!, generic boring poses and cheap as hell. Anyways, here is what I have painted/dipped so far!

I changed some of the poses by holding a cigarette lighter near the models and bending the soft plastic as I saw fit, then I supercooled them under the tap to make them stay. Worked out quite well! Ill see what else I can pull off with that technique...

Ill keep you updated!

Not bad! A shot of matte spray to kill the shine, and you're all set.

Yeah, The Rise of The Zombies is one of those settings where it's essential to have lots of opponents. I feel my job as a referee isn't done if the survivors have more bullets than targets!
from Mr.Vampire: "It's the paintjob that makes the miniature fight harder not the size."

Agreed,
they definitly need a coat of matt varnish.
You might also want to use some lighter colors (or add some white to your base colors) as the dip darkens everything.
Otherwise a good start.

They look great to me! Cheap and very effective.
The gloss varnish sort of gives them a wet putrefying look that I actually like.  :-*

I'd definitely use a matte coat on any survivors you paint up though.

What are the terrain bits? Where did you get them?

thx for the feedback! I will be getting some matte spray to see what it would do to the look of my zombies.
and yes; my survivors will be painted very differently and probably not dipped.

@aggro84: The trees are from a railway set I bought over 10 years ago. The roadsign and streetlamp are from a plastic SWAT-team toyset. I should have a SWAT-APC somewhere too that is arround the 28mm scale too... The glowy tower things are from a cereal toy: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/7/10399035_7de3a3f3eb.jpg Lightsaber spoons! I am going to use them as  generators of some sort, which can be objectives in a scenario.

Thanks Elders. That's quite a collection of terrain from various sources!

They look good.
