What helicopter is this (and can I get it in 28mm)?
« on: March 01, 2012, 01:18:49 PM »
Thread title says it all, I think. The helicopter in question is this:

Making a shopping list for a potential project some months hence, would be nice to have one of these on it if possible.

Thanks for any help.  :)

By the look of it it is a Alouette 2 with waterlanding gear; don't know if you can get it in 28mm.\

Heller does an Alouette 2 kit in 1/48 scale. No pontoons though... maybe they could be scrachbuilt  ???

Yep, Allouette II.
Belgian army had those when I was conscripted, without the pontoons ofcourse.

Alouette II  and there's a venerable Solido diecast in roughly the right scale out there too.

Thanks all – very helpful.  :)

Yes, that's the photo source. Project won't start until the summer, but turning over a few 7TV options right now.

Are you sure that the Sheriff's one isn't a Bell 47?  :?

Having said that, a Bell 47 would have the same 'look' as the Alouette II

Correction to my previous. The Solido model is actually one of their early plastic kits. Pretty basic by the looks of things but good enough for the gaming table. Needs floats but it is a slightly more comfortable 1/60 scale. If you can find one that is......

Your probably right though  ;)

Edit heres one and its a Bell

The one from the pictures is an Alouette 2. you can tell from the intakes and the exhaust. Plus the canopy fuselage is slightly less rounded than the Bell. But for gaming I'd say either would work fro the project.
