Today marked our gaming club's first trip to Africa in recent memory, as we started what we plan to be a whole series of Zulu Wars battles. We are using mostly Warlord Games (and Empress) miniatures, which two Essex wagons, and the promise of some Wargames Factory Zulus in the near future. Our rules may have started as Triumph and Tragedy, but we departed pretty quickly from them as we went along. Rules were edited on the fly, as we sought to achieve a good "feel". One big change was we started out as i-go-you-go, then moved to one-zulu-one-british. We aren't satisified with the way it all worked out, but it was interesting.
Our biggest change was to make the Zulus completely AI-controlled, using a system of card arrival (ala Pony Wars) and diced orders (also ala Pony Wars). This worked out fairly well, but it needs some tweaks. Anyway, enough about the rules.
