Sorry, I meant the Museum figures, I was looking at another site at the time :( (silly me)
I have a Japanese film of the 47 Ronin which is pretty good and I just bought the cheap kindle book you mentioned. The LPL has accelerated my Japanese fantasy project so I may as well grab some stuff while the mood takes me.
Just got 21 Dixon goblins in the post today as well :)

I am really surprised no one has done figures for this in 28mm, I may even consider having a few sculpted money permitting.

Well, that is on my to do list for this year  ;)

There is also an Osprey on the 47 Ronin :D
That headgear looks very Korean or Mongol in style

IIRC the loyal retainers wore firemans uniforms as a disguise, hence the funny headgear.

On a different but slightly related subject, does anyone know of a decent non fantasy fighting Samurai Woman/Giesha figures. I just need one.

I think West Wind do one. Dressed in a kimono and drawing a katana (the kimono and her hair aren't 100% historical but it will do  :) ).

For the female, GCT is going to be releasing a VERY nice female Samurai for their Bushido line soon. Here's the preview

My favourtite is Shiba Tsukune (clan wars) but I don't think she's been re-released by Valiant enterprises yet.

For technical reasons (gateway block) I can't see or post any images so please indulge me.

As I understand it, the acceptable primary weapon for a female was the naginata (images of the Christian revolt have a number of women so armed). The short sword (wakazashi) was also available to ruling class women (Kurosawa's lady Mcbeth in Throne of Blood fits the bill) but it was uncommon.

A naginata-wielding female 'samurai' would be an amazing sculpt.

I have two film versions of 47 Ronin. Both are really interesting but can be hard going.

Fortunately for you, Bushido already have a naginata-wielding woman (Jin, from their "Prefecture of Ryu" faction):

The spear blade isn't quite curved like a true naginata, but that's an incredibly simple conversion.

Ooooh. That's a very tempting thing. It looks like a cut down yari.

I agree the curve would be relatively simple although the blade would be a bit short.
A naginata is really a wakazashi on a stick, I suppose.

Why black? I'd put her in blazing eye-watering pearlescent white. Culturally, a very dangerous colour for a dangerous gal.

I think black armour and blue clothes are that faction's normal colours.
