Has anyone ever tried to figure out how big the ark would have to be to hold 2 of every species on the planet (excluding the ones that already live in the water of course)?
Oh dear...This reminds me of my evangelical christian collegue in the US who was certain there were archeological remains of the Arch of Noah on top of Mnt Ararat. I asked him what his evangelical archeologists friends had thought of sifting through that thick layer of sediment which comes from having a pair of all species there ever was onboard, shitting to their hearts' delight....and I guess this post is my ticket to hell. :-)
I want to know who drew the short stick and had to house all the poisonous reptiles, hostile insects and venomous aracnids. I'm sorry, but the inside of the Ark would have been Hell on Earth. Not to mention what are the chances of at least one of Noahs family having an alergy to at least ONE of the creatures onboard. I grew up on a farm allergic to everything we raised and grew, that was misery I can tell you. Also, please tell me that they had some simple efficient way to clean it out.

When you're making small talk with them, most of them are polite and friendly. Despite their bizarre and medieval positions, they usually have no experience with the kinds of things they rail against. They're systematically fleeced by their political and religious leaders into backing positions that are in their own worst interest. They live in areas where opportunities for work and education are limited. Religion is a comforting system that gives their lives some structure. They're just people in the end. The really malignant extremists are a smaller minority than you'd think.
