Standard basing for CWC or not?
« on: March 08, 2012, 11:05:56 AM »
What size bases do you use for your CWC units?  "Standard" per the rules?  Your own preferences?

Gracias,

Glenn

I use FOW bases, they seem to do the job.  Large for HQ, medium for vehicles and Commanders and small for infantry.  FAO and FAC on coins.

What size figures are you using?

Since most pictures in the books look like they use 1/300th or 15 mm (or even some of 28 mm) figures and I am planning on using modified 1/600th historical figures I was wondering whether most people use the example bases or different sizes.

Gracias,

Glenn

for 1/600th I was originally thinking:

CO 25 mm x 25 mm
HQ 20 mm x 20 mm typo edit done
Infantry 20 mm x 15 mm
Tanks 15 mm x 15 mm
Vehicles and Recce 15 mm x 25 mm
AT/AA guns 20 mm x 25 mm
Artillery 20 mm x 25 mm
FAOs 2 figures on a 20 mm Circle
FACs a vehicle and two figures on a 25 mm Hexagon
Aircraft 25 mm Octagon

I need to blue tack some figures on these bases and post pictures for feedback.

Gracias,

Glenn

CWC has no basing standard - in fact I don't bother basing vehicles for CWC (my figures are 1/300). For infantry I use small FoW bases cut in half with 4 figs per base and small FoW bases for guns.

I plan to use 1/600th - pretty much I have decided I must base.

Also I plan on games where units don't represent individual tanks more likely platoons or even companies.

By "standard" i was referring to the writer's example in the one rule book.

Glenn

12mm or 1/144.  :D

If that is a suggestion  ??? for size of figures - not happening ever.   >:D

I use (due to legacy reasons- i.e., cost - too cheap  :o   lol  to spend $3 plus for a bunch of figures in mass) 25/28 mm figures for skirmish (Spanish Colonial, Spanish VSF on Venus, Gothic Horror, Old West in "far Northern" Mexico 1830-1845,) and have moved most everything else to 1/600th (If I find I can convert historical into SF then I will sell off my large SF in 1/300th scale/6 mm size.)   Terrain compatibility was a key factor in keeping those eras/genres in the larger figures.

The Author's pictures in the three rule books are labeled mostly that scale or 6 mm with a few larger sized figures pictures IIRC.

Glenn

Over the years I have moved everything to Litko bases (well some older RenInk basing) - what size are the FOW bases?
