Terrain help needed
« on: March 14, 2012, 04:12:24 PM »
Hi guys,

I am new to the forum and looking for some assistance. I'm fairly new to the adventure gaming scene (CiC) with a Warhammer 40k background. Like other 40k players I had the GW syndrome of "must have more". I have a boat load of GW terrain sitting around (Imperial Sector, Bastions, fortress, etc.) I'd like to convert it more for use with adventure gaming/fantasy and just wondering if anyone had any ideas, pointers to get rid of the unique GW look.

Below are the links to the terrain in question.

Thanks,

Tenz

Simply put, remove or hide the skullz and Imperial Eagles...

Also try to disguise some of the Gothic nature of the building!

I imagine that the Bastion would be quite easy to "repurpose", but the gothic looking ruined building will always look gothic!

There are two ways you can go about doing this; the first way is to try and convert these pieces for a single project/purpose, the second way is to use them for bits.

My ninja-dad used to say you don't build a house to fit your furniture, you buy your furniture to fit your house.

Figure out what you want or need to build for your fantasy games and if you happen to see a piece of one of those that will work for it use it and save the rest for later!

Hey guys,

Thanks for the pointers. Every bit helps :-)

Ironmammoth: Both good ideas. I may try to file down some of the skulls and eagles or fill them with GS or putter. Maybe able to sculpt over them or something....

Ninja: I've made a 3 x 4 terrain board that is currently flocked with sand. What I was thinking in the way of theme is a frosty tundra type environment. I wanted to give the feel of a cold and chilly area with sparse snow. Maybe some icicles on the buildings, maybe a frozen pond area etc.

I am hoping to start on the project over the next week or so while I pick at my Impetus Army. I'll take a few snaps of my progress and post them if anyone is interested.

Thanks again for the responses,

Tenz
