First of all selling miniatures isn't as easy ...

First of all you need to register your business to receive a VAT number and a certain degree to start up a business
Secondly you need some capital in order to pay for sculptors and casters

Greens are expensive and can range from as low as 30€ up to ...€
Castings greens isn't cheap as you need master moulds (65€) and production moulds (45€)

Then you need a website or blog not so expensive

I probably skipped some important facts but that would be my first steps to start up some sort of wargaming business. There are probably some guys with experience in the business or have commisionned a personal range on this very forum.

You should register with the ATO your name and get an ABN number then apply for GST.
the ATO.gov.au site does have a lot of useful information.

GST is only charges for Australian sales. Sales overseas do not attract GST.

An idea is to have your business name the same as your web site exclude .com/net etc.
Business names must be registered via ASIC

Hope this helps. VAT is an English/Kiwi equivalent to GST.
Good Luck mate.
life is a journey.
It how you tavel on that journey, that matters.

Bubbles,

Well I do not think it’s all that tough or complicated at first. You could simply start by producing a few simple sculpts, casting in RESIN, and selling on EBAY. This does no require all the other stuff and lets you start up in an easier medium until you get going and LEARN more.

Given you appear to be quite young and will be not generating much income at first you do not need all the “official” trappings of a big business, or even your own storefront type website. Put up a simple BLOG with a link to EBAY auctions. If things go well expand later on. Making TRUE money in the miniatures world is VERY tough and I recommend staying in school and doing it only as a sideline “hobby”

I did this by the way....

Hope this helps! :)

yea i never intended to make alot of money off this and i was really only doing this because i thought it would be nice to be able to make some mini's and maybe some rules for them, the reason i asked for help was because my country is a pain in the ass when it comes to legislations and then they dont give information about them.

Bubbles, If you are building and selling mini for a HOBBY. then providing you do not earn a net flow of AUD$5000 per annum, The tax department does not worry about chasing you (your too small for them).
(buy 10 models $10 buy paint/brushes $5.00 outgoing $15. sell models 10@$22 Net$7.00

However if you charge GST and do not pass that on then you do get into trouble.

As it sounds you are only doing this as a hobby and if you sell your items via your web page and/or ebay etc then you should have no problems.

Just keep all receipts for costs and sales.

If you transfer money from your paypal account to your bank account, then there would be some receipt of that transaction, not ?
Also, paypal archives you transactions for you, so that shouldn't be a problem I guess. (dunno how long the keep record of them, though)
