First 15mm fantasy element painted (ever)
« on: March 22, 2012, 10:33:28 AM »
Okay, new scale, new ruleset, new thingies to paint for me, so I ordered a Splintered Light set of Wood Elves and tried the first element, an adaption compared to 30mm fantasy but I like the sculpts and it turned out tabletop worthy

and the blah blah on the hows and whys

Those are looking great!

Have you played a full game with the new rules yet?

Cheers,

Blue

Nothing better that HOTT for some fun 15mm painting.  Splintered Light are really good minis for HOTT - but only my second favourite.  Take a look at Demonworld now being produced by Ral Partha Europe - for me they are the best 15mm fantasy ever! http://www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk/  Beautiful figures and now sensibly packaged to make them suitable for HOTT armies amongst others.

Yups, know demonworld from the time they where still a french company.  Only reason stopping me from buying them is that they don`t have a race yet that I have a `feel` with of `omydgollygosh, must have an army of that`... though the DE are cutting it very close to become a Drow force  :-*

Nah, got the free version so far from the Freewargames site (the purple cover one), and managed to persuade another clubbie to start 15mm fantasy as well, so I *hope* te get a game in by may (when the forces should be painted)

While I love Demonworld - I do know what you mean.  Their Goblins don't impress me with their oversized insects.  Their Empire range is a little OTT and I don't have much time for the the Thain spirit animals or some of their Ice whitch and demons which are a bit odd  BUT Their Orcs are wonderful, their Dwarves are totally original and their Wood elves with centaurs and pegasus riders are simply fantastic.  Then we get to their Dragon Riders which are outstanding.

My Drow forces are not just drawn form the DE Range (which is a little too oriental for me) but is a mix of Ice Witches, Elves, and DE.  With a single painting style these blend into a truly excellent Drow force.
